Chromosome: A doubled rod of condensed chromatin.
Diploid: A cell that has two sets of chromosomes, one from each parent. Haploid: A cell that has half the usual number of chromosomes. Gene: The set of information that controls a trait; a segment of DNA on a chromosome that codes for a specific trait Centromere: The centromere is the part of a chromosome that links sister chromatids.
